Speakeasy runs on a shared GPU, so the app itself is password-protected.
This is the app's access password, not your vault passphrase. They are deliberately different secrets: this one reaches the server, your vault passphrase never does.
A passphrase is optional — it only encrypts your saved history on this device. It never leaves your browser and the server never receives it. If you set one and forget it, that saved history can't be recovered — by you or anyone — but you can always "Forget this device" to start fresh. Use at least 12 characters: on a stolen device this passphrase is the only thing standing between someone and your history.
